Project Description
The Guildhall Museum is exploring innovative ways of redeveloping historical buildings. The Guildhall in Rochester is a public building with more than 300 years of history rooted in its space. However, the forum suffered from constant additions, resulting in over 12 different floor levels over three stories high, with numerous staircases and unused spaces devoid of specific purpose. This study aimed to utilise these extinct areas and create an organised system for exploring the different building levels. The hope is that further consideration of projects like these will increase appeal and engagement with tourists and locals, with carefully considered enhancements placed into overlooked historical spaces, breathing new life into the museum.
